Bigger Things #70 - The Truth About Real Estate Investing
How I went from Failures to 6 Duplexes, a Ski Chalet & Ground-up Development
A couple of weeks ago I indicated that I was struggling with the decision of doing an ultra endurance event…
I’ve always wanted to do a full IRONMAN of:
Swim 3.8 kilometres 🏊♂️
Bike 180 kilometres 🚴♂️
and finish by running a full marathon of 42.2 kilometres 🏃♂️
The training requirement to successfully do this is crazy and so I’ve never had the time to commit to this along with running a business, raising young boys and staying married 😂.
This coming weekend my twin sons are off to University, so we become empty nesters over Labour Day weekend.
So to realize my IRONMAN dream or perhaps just to cope, I decided and I signed up for IRONMAN Canada in Ottawa August 2026.
I’ve trained for many marathons, gravel grinders and even a few ultra-marathons before, but IRONMAN… this is different.
The training volume freaks me out, I’m majorly stepping into fear on this, I need accountability from all of you so hence why I’m publicly putting it out there that I’m doing it.
Wish me luck… I’m going to need it… 😁😁
Podcasts have been invaluable in helping me to shape my views on building a business and investing in real estate and Bitcoin.
For years now, I’ve been listening to Erwin Szeto’s The Truth About Real Estate Investing podcast.
A few weeks ago I had the honour of being hosted by Erwin Szeto on his podcast.
You can listen to the YouTube above or links below to the Apple and Spotify Podcasts.
We had a wide ranging conversation about the many mistakes I have made in investing and my journey to owning long-term rentals, doing my first ground-up development and to buying a short-term rental at Mont Tremblant.
Hopefully you find this podcast episode valuable.
